The San Diego Padres traded linebacker Dantari Poe on Friday to the St. Lucie Saints, the team announced.
The move opens the door for Poe to become the team’s fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
San Diego’s first round pick was taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round in the 2019 NFL draft in May.
Poe, who had been on the team since his rookie season in 2014, was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2016.
San Francisco’s second round pick, which was acquired in the Poe trade, was used on wide receiver Jarrad Davis in 2017.
The Chargers also waived cornerback Darnell Dockett and released defensive lineman Ryan Harris.
